Hi, Nicola --
It seems likely, then, that your OM-10 is suffering from a "sticky
shutter speed magnet". On a significant number of OM-10's, the
electromagnet that controls the shutter speed gets "sticky", resulting
in exposures longer than necessary. The solution is to clean the
electromagnet -- which, to be thorough, requires disassembly of the
camera.
To check for this, leave the camera wound overnight. Then, without film
or a lens on the camera, in AUTO mode, in a well lit room, fire the
camera as you listen closely to the sound it makes. If you hear any
hesitation -- like, "click...click" -- as the shutter opens, then
closes, the magnet is probably sticky. This delay may be just a
fraction of a second, or the shutter may stay open for quite a long
time, depending on the degree of the problem. Wind and fire the camera
again, and the delay will probably be much shorter, or there may be no
delay at all -- just a single "click".
If you've _got_ to use the camera, try leaving it un-wound until just
before taking the photo -- that will reduce the over-exposure, but not
eliminate it. It will need to be overhauled to correct it.
