Some camera stores sell a double wrench set that fits around the filter and
the lens barrel. That way, when you rotate the filter the lens barrel will
stay put. The cost is about $6 for the plastic wrenches.

An oil filter removal wrench for a small oil filter should also work. You
might find one small enough at a lawn and garden or tractor supply store.
