I have the Dimage Scan Dual II, the USB version. Resolution is about 2700
dpi, and I have had good results with 35mm slides and b+w negatives. I use
it to scan and bring images directly into Photoshop for manipulation. The
only manipulations I do in the Minolta software are cropping -- if find the
previews to be too small for me.
Negative comments about the scanner are slow speed (USB vs faster SCSI) but
I don't have a free slot for a SCSI adapter and I don't find the scanning
speed to be a problem (patience!).
I paid about $440 including shipping through www.provantage.com . They are
a software and hardware vendor and I have also had good results with them --
orders are shipped within hours and I have had next day delivery with no
extra charges.
