I've used them to house a handheld momentary switch connected to my winder.
I used old coiled headphone cable for the wire. It's great for moving around
the tripod to pose subjects.

I've also used them to house headphone extension cord female connectors
after they've been stepped on and crunched.

I carry small amounts of ibuprofen in them.  I buy the large size containers
to keep at home.

Small parts storage...

How about a miniature string telephone?  ;-)
