Weight Length
50mm/1.8 Zuiko 165g 32mm (made in Japan)
40mm/2.0 Zuiko 140g 25mm
35mm/2.8 Zuiko 175g 33mm
28mm/2,8 Zuiko 170g 32mm
The difference in length is almost compensated when using an filter or
even overcompensated if using an lens shade with the 40mm/2.0. Nothing
unusual because the aperture ring of the 40mm Zuiko is so small.
There is also the risk of damaging that small and fragile
filter/aperture ring when using an large lens shade as the recommended
one, initially designed for the 85mm and 100mm Zuikos.
BTW this shade works also on some 50mm Zuikos.
One wont notice the difference in weight to other Zuikos.
For comparison:
45mm/2.8 CZ Tessar 90g 18mm
40mm/2.8 Pentax 111g 18mm
The OM cameras are great because they are small, but still have normal
sized knobs and buttons. With the 40mm Zuiko IMHO the lens designer
flawed, they scarified an normal Zuiko-like aperture ring to gain some
millimetres.
The 45mm Tessar is much smaller but has much better controls because
they are normal sized.
The faster 2.0 aperture instead of the 2.8 of the 35mm Zuiko, is not
of that much use because this lens has to be stopped down for
comparable image quality.
Best regards
