I don't think most of it is awful at all, even the big balls of iris
reflections. Moreover, how can the same lens be good in some instances of
bokeh and bad in others? Perhaps there are circumstances that should be
avoided to produce a pleasing image, like trees coming out of subject's head
and other background distractions. Aren't you blaming your lens simply for
not excluding background distractions of a sort in your macro shots?
