Seems like such thorough tests were more the norm when there was
competition. Now that Pop Photo has no Modern Photo to worry about,
phhhbbbtttt!
Pop Photo claims to have spent eleventyseventythousand dollars on their
testing lab, but over the years they've dumbed down the reports to the
lowest common denominator. So what if a person doesn't understand certain
aspects of a test report today? He/she may set out to learn what it means
next week, based on curiosity inspired by the report!
I don't think it occurs to many magazines that people keep these issues for
years, even decades, and use 'em for reference material. Or, at least, did
when there was material worth referencing.

I just finished reading a photocopy of one these lab tests for a Contax
camera of the same vintage ('82), and I was amazed at the throroughness of
the test....
