The perfect portrait lens ? No such thing. Oh, for
conventional 'flattering' perspectives, something between
85 & 180 will work well. If you have the imagination, and
realize that it's the camera-subject distance that establishes
perspective, you can do beautiful portraits with a wide variety
of focal lengths. Look at what HCB wrought with the plebeian
50mm. Very few of us are ever limited by our hardware.
