The ONE lens, depends on what I want to do. I find the 35-80/2.8 to be
the most versatile with two exceptions, the weight and the lens hood.
The weight makes the camera hang very awkward, banging into stuff, and
I'm always watching out that the lens hood does not come off. I once
spent 1:30 hours skating back over a lake trying to find where it fell
off once. Thankfully a friend loaned me a snowmobile, which sped up the
search. (If one goes skating with a camera, I suggest a lighter lens
unless you are a much better skater than me:-)
The second choice would be 40/2. If I need wider angle, I can frame 1,
2, 3, or 4 shots and stitch together for wider angle. The 40/2 makes
the OM the closest thing to a point and shoot. Clearly the same logic
can be applied to the 50/1.8. Or even the 50/2, which gives you macro
as well. However, stitching does not work well with people. So for
people the 35-80/2.8 is my choice, with maybe a wider angle close by,
and for nature, 40 or 50.
However, such a question conflicts with the lifestyle of a zuikoholic,
and hopefully all the SO's are not reading this particular thread. :-)
So that means at some point, you need to have owned all the zuiko
lenses so you can determine the ONE to carry, right? including all the
variations and incarnations of 50mm lenses.
