Another very versatile pod is a Benbo. Turning one into a copy stand
doesn't involve detaching and re-attaching anything, just pivot the
central column so the end with the camera attached is pointing down, and
there you are. The nice thing is that the central column will then
be able to be raised and lowered easily for framing.
Benbos are quite sturdy also.
