That's always a balancing act - make a spring too hard, it can eventually
break; make it too soft, it's not a spring, or it gets beaten out of shape.
I suspect most SLRs are subject to focus errors, whether due to the mirror
or focus screen position. All things considered it's a wonder they work at
all. Rather like a bumblebee flying. Somehow it manages to do so despite
itself.

The OM-G (and OM-10 type II ((serial number over 2,000,000)) uses a spring
which rests on a tab. The spring occasionally breaks off, allowing the
mirror to rest far away from its regular position.
