Let me weigh in on the side of the new Supra. I've shot and scanned both the
100 and 400 asa Supra. I love the saturation and contrast of both speeds.
The 400 lets me use my 35-70 f/4 and my 75-150 f/4 at their most desirable
apertures and at high shutter speeds.
I have scanned both and find them to be super sharp. Additionally, the skin
tones rival Portra and the Supra doesn't require special processing channels
or special handling like Portra. I get it for a lower price at the local pro
shop than one pays for Gold, so for a negative film, I think it's the film of
choice for me.
I'm planning to shoot some hummingbirds and will use the 800 asa for that,
and I'll let you all know how that works out.
