Ohh, so THERE was the reason to get children....;) (Just kidding). No,

Thomas, kids ARE "purely mechanical solutions" - ever heard of an
electronic kid?!? ;-)
Seriously, I used to have a cheap flash slave unit, which was a
stand-alone active flash shoe with a photocell that would fire a
flashgun when it detected the light from another flashgun nearby. It
had a rubber sucker that could adhere to any smooth flat surface. It
would be easy to mask off the sensor with a piece of masking tape or
insulating tape to inhibit the photocell and it would then make a handy
flash holder.
BTW, to all list members, apologies for my very late responses to
postings, often long after someone else has already posted a perfectly
adequate response. The reason is that I always read the daily digest at
http://zuiko.sls.bc.ca/swright/olympus-digest.archive/ rather than
having it posted to my mailbox. This arrangement suits me fine because
it means my mail-box doesn't get full but it also means I am often
several digests behind when I mail to the list. I'll have to discipline
myself to read all the digests before replying to postings!
Regards,
