Thanks for the info, Simon, I'll check it out. I also like Sensia II for
the same reasons - best value in slide film. I haven't shot Astia
specifically for portraits, but it seems neutral enough to handle it. I'll
do a bit more testing.
Too bad about your experiences with Kodachrome processing - it definitely
remains the standard among slide films for skin tones. I believe that may
be the single most important factor in its influence on the National
Geographic "look" - Kodachrome loves every skin tone on Earth.

The official line is that Astia is a slightly muted version of Provia (RDP
II)....They promote it as a portrait film, though I'm not sure about
this...Kodachrome is sadly out of the running for me, since Kodak
UK can't get their processing act together.
Sensia II is Astia. Rebate markings are RA (Astia: RAP)...it's half
the price of the pro films.
There used to be a page at www.fujifilm.com which outlined the (minimal)
differences between the pro and 'amateur' emulsions...
