the T-20 to work properly??? >>
Here is what Hans's SIF says:
The main difference between these two bodies is the System Flash support.
The OM-2 supports TTL/OTF flash control with both the Quick Auto 310 flash
(with Accessory Shoe 2)
and the T series flashes (with Accessory Shoe 3).
The OM-2n supports TTL/OTF flash control only with the T series flashes and
only accepts Accessory Shoe 4.
So it is clear the SIF agrees with your practical findings (shoe3) except you
must have read the 2N literature.
That is, you are confusing the OM2 with the 2N.
The 2 does **not** have the flash LED in the viewfinder hence the reduced
number of pins.
According to the service manual the 2N was improved over the 2 by deepening
the flash screw/connector hole to prevent metal debris shorting out the flash
pin. You might try using a pin to clean out the flash screw hole while
holding the camera upside down. You also might try cleaning the other hole
since the plated brass connector sometimes gets a bit green and corroded.
