Yonkers is north of the city proper, so you'll have to take a short
train ride to get there. The horse-and-buggy thing still runs, and
might be worth taking pictures of, but general wandering through
central park should do you nicely.
Midtown offers the cityscapes you've probably seen before. You might
want to go down to Greenwich Village or Soho for street shooting and
some fine smaller-scale buildings. A couple of other good
possibilities are Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanical Garden,
both of which have fine vistas and very nice details, and a trip on
the Staten Island Ferry, which will get you some nice exterior views.
Just make sure you have your walking shoes on
