Ok, I may be stupid but....could someone please help me and explain what a
"floater" is when talking about lenses?

The original writer asked if current production prime Zuikos were
plastic, and Gary mis-read and thought they meant zooms, and
derisevly called plastic lenses "floaters."

(I get mental images of something
in a water cisterne indicating the level of the water...somehow that
doesn't match with the image of a lens...*grin*)

Yea, but it could be handy if you happen to drop one in a lake while
changing lenses. (There's a Zuiko 24/2.8 in the bottom of Trillium
Lake somewhere...)
