If I may be so bold as to summarize the group discussions going on
around this issue for the last year or so, it appears that no-one
really concludes that one is "better" than the other...
That depends on how you define "better." IMHO, the reason for
preferring MC is flare control. The SC lenses may have some endearing
qualities, but shooting into the sun does not bring them out... :-)
All the MTF and other tests do not do a good job of evaluating flare
performance. Gary, in all your spare time, can you duplicate all your
tests, but this time, purposely point an off-axis flash into the
lens? :-)
To paraphrase Garth, it's easier to reduce contrast and sharpness
after the fact than to add it, regardless of whether your darkroom
uses chemistry or pixels...
