The reason I get away with it is that I carry the camera on my side with my
hand on it like a shock absorber. It doesn't work to carry it in front. I
regularly inspect and haven't seen any indication of wear or weakness,
although I keep expecting some. I also don't like the heat buildup under
the strap in the summer time. It is not something I use regularly, often I
hand carry the camera.
