It appears that he is referring to direct sales to consumers over the
internet vs. sales through traditional retailers. If you go to the
olympus america web site, you can buy refurbished equipement but not
new stuff. I think he is saying that manufacturers could cut out the
middle men and make more money selling directly to consumers via thier
web sites.
