greetings to all. This is my first email since I entered the list (which
was today :)
>Dave said .. I love my OM system, but I have had 2 bad experiences with
OM4s, and tell people to stay away from them.
I also had a major prob with my (beloved) OM4 10 years ago. The spotmeter
was fuctioning erratically , when the shutter was depressed the Camera went
into a loop with beeps and lockups , exiting only with M60 or B.
The trouble was caused by moisture some days before.
It took me 3 months to repair the camera , and have new wiring and chip
replacement under warranty. I still use my OM4 and OM1 , but I think that
the OM4 is very sensitive to moisture , and heavy use.
Is the only camera though that one can use in Auto in complete dark , and
just take a picture by continuasly firing a flash. The om4 will decide when
enough light reached the film and close the curtain.
Closing I had a small prob taking pictures with my 50mm1.4 using the lens
in reverse on bellows. All the slides come with a "smear" in thte center ,
like a glare.
I make sure that no stray light hits the lens back element , but again the
smear is there. Nothing is wrong when I use the lens normaly.
