SOmething else to keep in mind is that the hot shoe pins are hard wired to a
flex board inside the top cover. As the shoe gets looser and moves more, the
inner flex can rip.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago. Get it fixed, because the
flash shoe and the TTL connector plug on the side of the body, seems to be
connected. At some point I lost all the TTL automation.
