yeah, there are larger, more powerful ring flashes for use with high
power studio systems. They are expensive, not surprisingly.

Yeah, the olympus ring flash would be fine for head and shoulders
closeups with a medium tele. The limited guide number for these is what
makes them unsuitable for big time studio work. The large reflector
would give a nice soft light that would be pleasing for most subjects.
