A Fashion Ring Flash is fairly large. They're mostly used with medium
format cameras. They probably would have a guide number of 100 to 150.
I'm not familiar with the Sunpak ring flash. But I doubt if the one
I've seen are made by Sunpak.. I imagine they are quite expensive. The
diameter of the ring tube is probably more than a foot. They are
perfect for shooting in in very tight spaces such as the interior of a
car. They really are a specialty device. They were popular in the
early 90's for avante garde fashion work. Someone said they were also
popular in the late 70's. I've seen one in a studio in LA and it was on
a RZ67. Every now and then I'll see an article about them in some pro
industry rag. But they are quite specialized.
