Hi Tom,
The one time I shot high school soccer this year, I used a Tokina 85-200.
If I stayed in midfield it wasn't close enough for all the far side action
and the 85 was too long when the action came to the near side. By moving to
one end of the sideline or the other the 200 was ok. The 85-250 might allow
you to move back a little more from the sideline than I was. It was
important to keep both eyes open when shooting the guys. The ball came my
way more than once, but because I saw it with the eye not to the viewfinder,
I could track it and move my tripod if necessary. Your girls shouldn't be
kicking quite so high up!
