I've gotten the approval of the budget committee to shop for a carbon
fiber tripod - primarily because of the heavy travel schedule we have
coming up. While not in the same league as Warren Kato's wife, mine
knows she will wind up carrying it some <g>.
Does anyone have hands-on experience with the new SLIK 800-series carbon
fiber (graphite-epoxy composite)? The SLIK web site was useless and
there aren't many well-stocked camera shops left outside of LA, NY, and
Toronto on this continent. I am going to drop by the Dallas Camera
Exchange this week to see if they have one.
Anyway, comments appreciated. Reply off-line if you think there has
been too much tripod traffic lately. And, yes, I have seen the
Bogen/Manfrotto 3444 - nice and under consideration. No, I haven't
looked at the Gitzo Mountaineer - bang for the buck, you know.
