I once saw in a camera shop window an OM-1 + 50mm Zuiko that were both painted
greenish blue like rusted bronze. There was a note attached: 'make an offer'.
The
salesman said the camera was otherwise in perfect condition. While I could have
had the combination for maybe $25, the paint looked as if it were very hard to
remove, and I could not see myself walking with such a gear. The only reason I
could image people would do things like that is when they would be taking the
equipment into unsafe areas like Russia or the Bronx. Very smart indeed, to
camouflage a professional System Camera into a $2.50 piece of junk.
Maybe this is an idea for a future ADITL event - take a picture of one your OM
cameras and lenses, and digitally transform it into whatever you like. A "L-OM-o
4Ti", or the elusive "OM-7 Ti AF", the dangerously looking "Zuikobashing AF
28-300mm/F2.8 Gun", the "RadiOMatic Light Machine 3Ti RGB" (available in Red,
Green & Blue) or the "Olympus M6" (Leitz being furious since it prooved to be
impossible to trade-mark the M6 designation).
