I hope not, Tom!
Imagine what would happen with NiCads in your BG2 and alkalines in the
T32... (or the other way around).
Both power sources are not interconnected in the low voltage circuits.
The BG2 has its own converter to high voltage which is feeding the
flash through the 3-pin socket (probably with diode separation too).
