Charlie;
Yeah, I did misunderstand. But it was still a great platform for a rant!
:>)
But George can't take it like he can dish it out. I am personally
insulted at his jingoistic, bigoted description of the many thankless
government employees who keep our national treasures from looking
like Disneyland. I informed him of that in private email, and asked
him privately to stop, but there he goes again...
I'd like to express my appreciation to those who have made
thoughtful, reasoned responses, as opposed to George's stereotypical,
knee-jerk, anti-regulation,
try-to-stop-me-from-doing-what-I-damn-well-please selfish responses.
BTW: I privately offered a deal to George off-line: I'd agree not to
call him names, which apparently drives him nuts, if he'd agree not
to give me reason to, pointing out that there are other forums more
suited to such discussion. He apparently lacks the necessary
self-restraint. I hope someone backs into his SUV. :-)
Someone's suggestion of electric trams would cost about as much as a Space
Station. Get real.
Yea, it would take a superpower with an established space program to
do something like that, like Switzerland. (Ever been to Wengen?) When
your perspective is limited to what is in front of you, it's hard to
accept it can be done any other way. Yet a tiny, land-locked nation
of six million puts the US to shame in creative ways of dealing with
such problems.
I'm out of this discussion now. It doesn't belong here. My further
silence should not be taken as tacit agreement that it's George's
Constitutional Right to drive his SUV where ever he wants, including
land I, as a taxpayer, partially own. Bring on the electric trams! :-)
I'd like to apologize to the list for taking up George's flame bait.
At least I did try to communicate privately with him, but he seems to
have some deep psychological need to spew this bigoted vituperation
in public, to a group of people HE DAMN WELL KNOWS FROM PAST
EXPERIENCE include some who object strongly to his views.
I'm unsubscribing now. I may be back in a few weeks, but I have to
listen to crap like George's every day on the news -- I read this
list to get away from it. Go suck on your SUV's tailpipe, George.
Obligatory Olympus content: I took some great photos with my OM-4T in
a National Park last month, while using public transportation, thanks
to the courage and foresight of the National Park Service, who won't
allow Crater Lake to become another Lake Tahoe.
