Filters are a must with B&W film. The best for skin color is light (#11)
green. Do not use dark green (#13), the skin tones become too ruddy for
women(good for male portraits though). The green filter will also lighten
the green foliage you presumably have in your yard, thus making the
subjects stand out against the background. You can also try a yellow #2 for
acurate tonal quality.

This is likely to look bad due to too much contrast. You could tone it down
by using a low contrast paper though.
Use fill flash of course.
