The person with the press pass and OM-3 was me. Sorry I missed you, I did
not get my Friday e-mail until this morning.
I have been the managing photographer for the Longs Peak Scottish-Irish
Festival and Highland Games (tm) for the last four years, and a shooter for
the previous manager Ed Gallagher for about six years before that. We had
four shooters working the games this year, and one assistant. Grady Petty of
Denver shot the athletics (slight fellow, dark hair, Nikon f100 and N90)for
me this year, and Brian and Steven Lewis (Pentax) shot the clan pictures. I
cover the main stage, and run things from there.
I also noticed the kid with the OM-1 shooting on the field. He seemed very
serious about his work!
The old OM-3 worked flawlessly throughout the show. I carried my 24mm f2.8,
35mm f2.0, 50mm f1.2, and 100mm f2.8 this year, which makes for a light and
versatile kit. I shot the final awards ceremony with a Contax G1 and 45mm
for its TTL flash capability. I believe I shot about 400 pix overall.
Mike is right about the festival, always held the weekend after the US Labor
Day in September, being a lot of fun every year. Anyone in Colorado around
that time could do a lot worse than spending that weekend in beautiful Estes
Park. If you like bagpipe music, and maybe a wee dram of scotch now and
then, there is nothing better...
I hope to post a few pix from the show on my site in a week or so. Rather
tired today,
