Naaaah, just brutal strength...seriously, we use it on the more
open [easy] trails and NEVER in mud. The captain's seat is all mine, since
the stoker's added weight is a plus traction-wise. Since he's
taller than me, he can see fairly well...he seems to scream a lot...
It's a delightful bonding experience (probably tandems have lead to
a lot of divorces as well, I suspect) and quite the challenge. The
routine for tight turns is a screamer. On the other hand, it keeps
us together on the trail. I hate it when he lags & drags. Just as much fun
on pavement, too. Everyone stares and smiles. :-)
