Shouldn't be. The activated carbon is usually to absorb off-odours (important
when asking people to take medications, vitamins, etc.). But the "little
things" you have are not very powerful. I use silica gel cartridges from
Hydrosorbent Products. Their website is at:
http://www.dehumidify.com/index.html
They have the advantage of being "re-activatable" (if that's even an English
word) over and over again in an oven, and contain an indicator window to let
you know when the silica gel's ability to adsorb moisture's been exhausted.
There are other sellers of such products on the Web -- use a search engine and
look under "silica gel" or "dessicant" (or other relevant combinations).
Hydrosorbent's been the one that caught my attention, though it's been over a
year since I checked around. I'm thinking of buying their HUGE dessicant
canisters, for extra drying power.
