Ken,
Scare factors are good, as I like people to leave me alone when I'm
shooting. ;-)
It's interesting that you are the first in this thread to mention the lowly
75-150, which I find useful to carry among gear for handheld shots. I also
have the 35-70/3.5-4.5 for this type of situation.
Also in my arsenal is a 35-105/3.5-4.5 (in for a bit of service at the
moment) which, along with the 85-250 makes a good pair for those
circumstances in which I tote the tripod. The weight of the 85-250 is less
a factor for me than its ungainly length. I had to radically redesign the
inwards of my LowePro Compact AW bag to accommodate it, but it has a
permanent place there now -- no regrets. Despite the comments about its
weight and length, I find it to be a physically a beautiful lens. This
fact has nothing, and everything, to do with the enjoyment of photography.
