Barry;
I was the one who experienced the dimple pattern in heavily silvered
areas on my Kodak IR negs. Others have said they've never seen them.
But they're certainly present on negatives I took before I solved the
problem.
I called Pat MacFarlane at Oly, NY and he special ordered 1/2 dozen or
more "IR plates" from Oly, Tokyo. Took them about 6 months to show up
and I bought one for around $65 as I remember. It's flat and works
fine.
Someone else on the list tried to get one a while back, but it seems the
Oly parts dept can't find them anymore. If someone really wanted one,
I'd suggest starting with Pat MacFarlane.
