Previously I said:

So, another thought. If you turn the light off and the fan off, the
lamp will remain hotter, so that if you turn it back on it will not
suffer from the lower resistance/higher current. So I would propose:
1) Do not use fan when you turn the lamp out IF you plan on turning it
back on shortly, keeps the lamp filament hotter. This is offten the
case when people change trays, etc.
2) Use the fan on with lamp off to cool it down as much as possible
before moving the projector to storage.
