This sounds like a camera outfit I remember from the '60s called a Mamiya
Press. The bellows were at the back instead of the front and the lenses came
in barrels with their own blade shutters, which made a loud sort of twangy
noise at least as loud as any focal plane shutter. With the roll film back
fitted it was a bit of a strain to see through the range/viewfinder. It had
a handle with trigger release fitted at the side.
In those days I used to fancy a Plaubel Makina but I've never seen one in
the 'flesh.'
