: What is the difference between an Auto and a Manual tube? Does this refer
to:
: 1. automatically stopping down the lens when the shutter is released?
: 2. operating the lever that senses what stop the lens is set to for the
: metering?
: 3. both of the above?

Bingo. Actually I inspected one of those Manual Oly tubes recently and they
are not as clumsy to operate as I first thought they would be. They have a
clever mechanism that immediatedly closes down the aperture when you turn
the aperture ring, so it works exacly like the Manual 20mm/F3.5 Bellows
Macro Lens. Before that I thought you had to stop down the lens by pressing
its preview button, just like lenses used with reverse rings. But as it is
implemented, I could live with a Manual Tube. I also have the manual
versions of the 20mm, 38mm and 80mm macro lenses, and it doesn't bother me.

: 4. none of the above and something else entirely?

Well in Dutch (Oh no! Not again!) 'auto' means 'car' and 'tube' is used to
refer to (inner) tires so an Auto Tube really is a car tire.

: [There is no green reflection so they are probably not MC tubes. In fact
: there is no color reflection whatsoever so they're not likely SC either.
: NC? (No Coating?)]

Oh no! Not again! A dispute on the weight difference of Auto vs. Manual
Tubes? Mommy!!!
