On a serious note, you don't want to have a pendulum hanging out there
bobbing up and down either if an unbalanced setup works better than a
balances one. Somebody earlier pointed out a site that mapped out camera
vibrations in reference to shutter opening. High frequency vibrations died
out before the shutter opened but the vibrations in the 8 to 30 cycles per
second range seemed to effect vibration most during the shutter cycle. So,
your whole outfit should be tuned to avoid certain frequencies, dampen those
that get through, and have enough mass and rigidity in the beginning to avoid
any vibrations,
