OM-1. Any recommendations? Is the 70-210mm as good as the 75-150 or
the 200? What about the other makes, such as Tamron, Tokina, Vivitar,
etc.? I currently have a 50mm/1.4 which is superb.

Hi Mary,
There are a lot of variables to be factored in in order to answer your
question. What is your budget? What do you want to do with the lens. The
70-210 S Zuiko is a Cosina made lens. I don't think Gary R has tested it yet.
I suspect c\that compared to the 75-150, it will not be as well manufactured
and probably less prone to flair (most 75-150's seem to be single coated).
There are some advantages to buying new, as well (warranty, etc...).
There are a lot of halfway decent 3rd party medium zooms out there. Check the
archives for some different opinions (you'll find plenty of those!!!). The
only one I can speak to from experience is the Vivitar 75-205 f/3.8-4.8. I
would classify it as a decent, but not great lens. It is small and light
though. Smaller and lighter than my Zuiko 200/4. I was never a fan of one-
touch zooms, either (my Vivitar suffers from bad zoom creep).
I've heard good things about the Zuiko 135/3.5 and 135/2.8. They seem to be
plentiful and reasonably priced. The 100/2.8 could be decribed that way as
well. I just *love* my 100/2, but they are hard to find and expensive. The
180/2 is supposed to be pretty good, too....
I hope this helps,
