I agree with Jan. My RMC Tokina 400/f5.6 is a very decent lens, which
by _any_ standard produces respectable results, and in good lighting
conditions it can generate usable output even handheld(!). Construction
quality of all Tokinas is much better than average.

Well, I guess what Jan meant is that this Tamron -- a ravishingly
beautiful piece of glass, got a _rave_ review from THIS raving lunatic
(Yours truly :-)), whose ravenous appetite for the highest quality
aftermarket "toys" is well known on this list.
