True, but if the message went to every subscribver when they subscribe,
then they'd have no excuse :)

In Linux (which is the os that runs the list, I think), a monthly
message is just a cron or at job. You set it up once, and it runs
forever. And it is pathetically easy to set up. :)

Thanks for your comments, but...
There are two problems with this approach:
1) People generally ignore things they see all the time. A more
"periodic" message (as opposed to constant) might be more likely
to get results (I know this is counterintuitive, but is is never the
less true. When is the last time you actually paid attention to the
footers that are on the messages now? If you've been here from more
than a month, I bet you never pay attention to them).
2) While adding one line to each message doesn't seem like much, it
is a *huge* addition in bandwidth compared to a once-a-month
message. Put simply, one line times every message on this list
will always add up to more than one message a month.
