Thanks Mark.
I know the procedure and I have indeed done this, upgrading to NiMH
at the same time. But I simply haven't enough packs and it is almost
impossible to buy spares, even exhausted ones. Maybe someone has a few
he or she wants to get from under foot? ;-)
Olympus also recommends using high voltage batteries like the Quantum
ones now. An extra advantage for me is that I can charge these packs
without the bulky and old-fashioned special charger which only takes
the T-45 batteries - a small universal AC->DC adapter or even the car
battery is fine for charging and it can be employed for other
equipment too.
The lead-gel cells are very well built, have no memory and almost no
self-discharge, and they can always be topped off between shootings. I
also use lead-gel type Olympus 6 volt Power Packs 2 - these really are
a big improvement over the old NiCads I used before (giving only 5
volts....)
