Hi Folks!
First of all a correction--the 6 element 85 is an F2.0 lens, not F2.8--as
most of you know. Secondly, in the original 85F2.0 six element lens the second
group from the front is a cemented 2 element pair--meaning 3 correction
surfaces. In the second 5 element version, Olympus changed this to a single
element--meaning 2 correction surfaces. So it is not as radical a change as
you might think--only a single correction surface was lost. However, I would
guess that they more than made up for it with improvements to indexes of
refraction, multi-coating, better manufacturing tolerences and so forth!
But, I would like to hear a subjective opinion from someone who has shot
both--side by side!
