Yes, the water and soap method will only work on the Nikonos lenses
and focusing screens - maybe.
More serously, I asked my optician about the ultrasound device and
wether it might be compatible with a focusing screen. They do subject
plastic lenses to ultrasound without problems, so he thought it would
work. He is fully prepared to give it a try but will of course not
give any guarantees. One problem though: It turns out that the cleaning
fluid is not just water, but is added some detergents.
