For what it is worth: when an optician cleaned and returned to me my
reading spectacles, I was astonished at the clarity and sparkle of the
lens. Despite using a variety of fancy cleaning fluids in the past, I
had not been able to obtain a like result.
When I asked her what the secret was, she replied, "Tap water, hand
soap and a good rinse."
Hmmm.
