FWIW, I have both OM-2SP and OM-4, and while batteries maybe don't last as
long as some of the others, it's really not a problem. Silver Oxide SR44
cells last a few months at least - not excessive in my book. The most
important thing is to use Silver Oxide cells, lithium or alkaline will
*not* last any time at all. As others have responded, there do seem to be
fault conditions on these cameras which cause heavy battery drain, but I've
not experienced this. I've owned my OM-2Sp since new in 86-ish, and bought
my OM-4 second hand several years ago.
