I just finished upgrading my M.15V Control Pack 2 with NiMH batteries
using the procedure in the FAQ (BTW, great work on the FAQ!) and I've got
a few suggestions on the process.
- when removing the single-off-sequence cover, after applying the
solvent, use a piece of very sticky tape (eg. duct tape) to lift
the cover off. Using tape instead of a knife blade will ensure
the cover doesn't get damaged.
- put a piece of tape on the lock slider for the fire button, it keeps
it from falling out as you try and re-assemble the unit.
- I had to use the following procedure to re-time the mode select
switch:
- set the switch to sequence mode.
- loosen (do NOT remove) the three screws holding down the
brass ring.
- while holding down the fire button, use a pair of needle nose
pliers to twist the centre post until the camera fires
continuously.
- tighten one of the screws which holds the brass ring.
- check that single fire mode works
- tighten the remaining two screws
- put the spring and the big screw back on and *gently* tighten.
The instructions in the FAQ state that you should turn the big screw to set
the timing without first loosening the brass ring. I found that if I did
that I would strip the threads in the centre nylon post (and I almost did!).
Perhaps my control pack is different than the one used for the FAQ (control
pack 1 vs 2 differences?). If the centre nylon post becomes stripped, then it
will be impossible to put the spring back on and the switch will not function
correctly. Perhaps John H can comment on what the correct procedure is.
