I have a Panasonic folding "microscope," but they are a pain to hold in focus,
not to mention needing a decent light source. I guess I'm spoiled by the
times I've used a lab microscope for this purpose. Nothing beats putting them
on a stage and using their built-in light source. Lighting of the slide would
be just one more variable that would have to be held constant between slides.
OM content: My first high resolution OM work was in taking pictures of 1 x 2'
plots for vegetation sampling. For my Thesis (back in '76) I had to know all
the plants within the plots, at any time over a growing season. Sometimes I
had to refer back to the Kodachrome 25 slides to see what was what - using a
microscope! My trusty OM-1 and 50mm f/1.8 F.Zuiko was up to the task.
