Matthew must have confused the 70-210/f2.8-4 zoom with another fabled
Vivitar Series 1 lens -- the 28-90/f2.8-3.5. No harm done, as the former
is a terrific performer, whereas the latter, also a great fast zoom,
can be easily purchased from moi :-)
A propos fast telephoto zooms, there was a 75-200/f2.8-3.5 lens from
Sigma -- a nicely finished, relatively compact, and very sharp zoom with
an impressively large front element (67mm filter). I have this lens in
its Quantaray "dress code", and it is a very fine performer. I rarely
ever have ANYTHING positive to say about Sigma products, but this lens
definitely deserves its stellar reputation.
